This morning, I was reading someone who seemed to have a pretty linear view of human development over the past few hundred thousand years. It got me thinking about how there have been and continue to be many forces at play in human consciousness and within the human condition that do not support a continuous path of progress for our species and this author seemed to suggest.
This got me to thinking about the two basic spiritual paths that are available to all souls:
1. The Divine Love Path
2. The Natural Love Path
Within these two paths, I contemplated four long-term trajectories. By long term, I mean in human terms of years, decades, centuries, or millennia.
As far as I can tell, there is only one long term trajectory for those who consciously choose the Divine Love path. I'm not saying that along this long-term trajectory there are not upward, stagnant, or downward patches. My sense is the overall trajectory of the conscious Divine Love seeker is upward along an exponential curve of development of all aspects of being. This is the overall path because the transformative power of Divine Love moves aspects toward their highest expression. This does not mean that people in the short-term do not experience actual or apparent stagnation or regression as their human wills and material minds assert themselves.
For me, the Natural Love path has three logical trajectories:
1. Overall upward movement toward natural purification.
2. A relatively flat trajectory of stagnation.
3. An overall downward path of devolution or regression.
These three trajectories recognize the ability of humans to choose their direction in any given moment. And any of these trajectories can be changed through the application of human will in a different direction in any given moment.
It would probably help to draw these out instead of just writing about them. Maybe I'll do a video when I'm inspired.
I welcome your comments, questions, and suggestions!
What's missing? What could be better explained or described? What did I get wrong?
